Ireland Salary Calculator

Enter your gross pay to see income tax, Universal Social Charge and PRSI broken out line by line, using the official 2026 Revenue and Department of Social Protection figures for a single PAYE employee.

Worked example: €50,000 salary

Income tax is 20% on the first €44,000 and 40% on the remaining €6,000, which is €11,200.00 before credits. The Personal and Employee tax credits total €4,000, so income tax is €7,200.00. USC is €1,032.82. PRSI is €2,118.75. Total deductions are €10,351.57, leaving €39,648.43 a year, or about €3,304.04 a month.

This example is checked against a hand-calculated test in our code. It assumes a single person with standard tax credits, no pension and no other income.

How we calculate this

This calculator applies the 2026 income tax rates and credits, the Universal Social Charge and employee PRSI (Class A). PRSI is 4.2% until 30 September 2026 and 4.35% from 1 October 2026, shown as a blended annual figure. USC is not charged at all if total income is €13,000 or less, but applies to all income once that limit is passed, so take-home pay drops slightly at that point. Pension contributions reduce income tax only. It does not include married or civil partnership bands, reduced USC rates, other credits or reliefs, or benefit in kind. It is an estimate. For an exact figure, check your Revenue tax credit certificate or consult a tax adviser.
