Denmark Salary Calculator: Take-Home Pay After Tax

Enter your gross annual salary to see your take-home pay after Danish income tax. Results are for a private sector employee living in a municipality with the 2026 national average tax rate, paid 12 equal monthly payments. Church tax is not included.

Worked example: 600,000 kr salary

A gross salary of 600,000 kr gives an AM-bidrag of 48,000 kr (8%), which leaves 552,000 kr of personal income. The employment deduction would be 12.75% of the pay, or 76,500 kr, but it is capped at 63,300 kr, and the job deduction is capped at 3,100 kr, so taxable income is 552,000 - 63,300 - 3,100 = 485,600 kr. Municipal tax at 25.049% on 485,600 kr is 121,638 kr, and bottom tax at 12.01% on 552,000 kr is 66,295 kr. The personal allowance of 54,100 kr is applied as a tax credit at the combined rate of 37.059%, worth 20,049 kr, which leaves 167,884 kr of bottom and municipal tax. Personal income is below the middle tax threshold (641,200 kr) and the top tax threshold (777,900 kr), so no extra tiers apply. Total tax is 48,000 + 1,188 (ATP) + 167,884 = 217,072 kr, so take-home pay is 600,000 - 217,072 = 382,928 kr a year, or about 31,911 kr a month over 12 payments.

This is our own calculation from the published 2026 rates and it is checked by a test in our code. We did not find an official 2026 worked example, so it is not an official figure. It assumes wage income only, with no other deductions, and church tax is left out.

How we calculate this

The AM-bidrag of 8% is taken first. Bottom tax (12.01%) and the middle tax (7.5% above 641,200 kr), top tax (7.5% above 777,900 kr) and extra top tax (5% above 2,592,700 kr) tiers are charged on personal income after AM-bidrag. Municipal tax (25.049%, the 2026 national average) is charged on taxable income after the employment deduction (12.75% of pay, at most 63,300 kr) and the job deduction (at most 3,100 kr). The personal allowance of 54,100 kr is a tax credit at the bottom and municipal rates, and the ATP pension contribution is 99 kr a month.

We use the national average municipal rate, so your own municipality will give a different result. Church tax applies to members only and is not subtracted from take-home pay. The tax ceiling (skatteloft) of 44.57% does not bind at the average municipal rate, so we do not model it. Payslips and the final tax assessment can differ by a few kroner.

Some items are provisional because we could not confirm them on an official page: the AM-bidrag base (taken on gross pay), the 4.5% job deduction rate, the calculation order (confirmed only from an older official example), measuring the employment and job deductions on gross pay, a flat ATP contribution of 1,188 kr a year, rounding each tax to whole kroner, and amounts you enter as retirement or pre-tax contributions, which only reduce take-home pay here.
